Rodrigo Rodriguez

Rodrigo Rodriguez (1978 - Present)

Biography:

Rodrigo was born in Argentina in 1978. He traveled to Spain in 1986 and spent most of his childhood there. Rodrigo was tutored at home between the years of 1993-1999 by several teachers of classical guitar. He continued his studies until he was 22 years old. Around this time he discovered his first Asian instrument; the Shakuhachi flute in Spain which was where he began his professional music career. He was fascinated by Japanese music and he traveled to Japan several times to enhance his knowledge. While there, he studied classical and traditional Japanese music under the lineages of Katsuya Yokoyama with the Master Kakizakai Kaoru in the International Shakihachi Kenshukan School.

Rodrigo had a vision as a young child. He wanted to imitate the music and sounds he heard in his mind. He acquired a rare collection of experiences during his many and diverse travels which enabled him to create his unique compositional language. In 2006, several compositions from his album “Inner Thoughts” were licensed; which aroused the interest of a well-known record label: Gemini Sun Record based in Los Angeles, CA. Later in 2009, he started to study with the renowned master of Japan’s leading players of Shakuhachi Miyata Kohachiro. He also works full-time as an instructor for the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Balearic Island in Spain.
